Smell
Overreactive   Avoider
Difficulty tolerating certain smells.   Excessive reactions to some smells, may even get headaches or vomit.
Often notice smells others don't.   Very swayed by scents, may avoid people or places based on smell.
Reacts negatively to, or dislikes smells which do not usually bother, or get noticed, by other people.   Decides whether he/she likes someone or some place by the way it smells.
Becomes nauseated or gags from certain cooking, cleaning, perfume, public restroom, or bodily odors.   Tells other people (or talks about) how bad or funny they smell.
Bothered by household or cooking smells.   May refuse to play at someone's house because of the way it smells.
Bothered/irritated by smell of perfume or cologne.   Refuses to eat certain foods because of their smell.
Offended and/or nauseated by bathroom odors or personal hygiene smells.

Smell
Underreactive   Seeking
May fail to recognize a smell that most would find alerting or strong.   Identifies objects by smell, has to smell everything.
Difficulty being able to smell dangerous smells (smoke, noxious/hazardous solvents, or something burning in the oven).   Uses smell to determine whether or not to like something or someone.
Fails to notice or ignores unpleasant odors.   Makes excessive use of smelling when introduced to objects, people, or places.
Has difficulty discriminating unpleasant odors.   Uses smell to interact with objects.
Unable to identify smells from scratch 'n sniff stickers.   Prefers foods with very strong tastes and flavors.
Does not notice odors that others usually complain about.  
Unable to identify foods that have gone bad by smell.  
May drink or eat things that are poisonous because they do not notice the noxious smell.
